Every refrigerator recycled by Nova Services is processed according to the strictest federal, state and local regulations. All refrigerant is recovered and reclaimed or destroyed. PCB’s, mercury and used oil are recovered and properly disposed of.
The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has developed a voluntary program to safely process the insulation foam used in refrigerator wall and door panels. This insulating foam manufactured prior to 2005 contains harmful CFC’s and HFC’s. These gases have both greenhouse and ozone depleting characteristics that can be up to 4750 times as harmful as carbon dioxide emissions. This program is known as Responsible Appliance Disposa (RAD).
